I express my ideas and concerns through the celebrated techniques and traditions that have developed over millennia using the medium of British stone.
By creating forms via this reductive process I aim to offer contemporary comments that generate reflection and challenge thinking whilst still celebrating a stone's heritage, heft, stability and longevity. I continue to resist making copies of my work in other media - the uniqueness of an artwork adds to its aura.
With an initial career divided between promoting our understanding of environmental issues and sculpture, I now enjoy working as a full-time Sculptor designing and creating unique forms to present my response and comment on our treatment of each other and our environment.
Whilst I exhibit in a range of venues, as a resident stone sculptor at the prestigious Burford Garden Company I am immensely fortunate to share the vanguard with them of exhibiting both the process and outcome of contemporary sculpture in a busy public venue. This prestigious ‘life-style’ emporium with its national and international following, large and diverse Contemporary Art Gallery and huge footfall shares my environmental commitment to a presentation of contemporary ideas to the broader public.
